OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) -- A man has been arrested and is believed to be the culprit of two residential burglaries in Ogle County during the month of December.
The first burglary took place on December 6, 2012 at a rural Leaf River residence and the second took place at a rural Lidenwood residence. The two investigations were assisted by several citizens providing information on a suspicious vehicle and partial license plate number. As a result, police believed it to be the same offender in both incidents.
During the investigation, several of the items taken in both burglaries were found at a residence in Rockford. In addition to the Ogle County burglaries, a stolen television from DeKalb County was recovered by deputies.
32-year-old Sheldon Wheaton was taken into custody and charged with two counts of residential burglary. Wheaton allegedly traveled door to door in rural areas selling frozen meat looking for unoccupied residences. He is being held in the Ogle County Jail and will appear in court at a later date.
