Man Arrested for Breaking into Rockford Funeral Home

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A man has been arrested for breaking into a Rockford funeral home.

Police say officers responded to Collins & Stone Funeral Home in the 100 block of South 5th Street Wednesday before 7 p.m.

Upon arrival, witnesses told officers a man entered the funeral home through a window and believed he was still inside.

Officers surrounded the funeral home and additionally called Illinois State Police K-9. 32-year-old Edward P. Hall was found hiding in the basement. Several pieces of candy from a jar within the funeral home were found in Hall's pockets.

Hall is being charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is on probation for theft.
