Major Improvements Completed at District 205 Schools

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Hundreds of students in District 205 will soon be walking into what looks like brand new schools.

When students go back Monday, they’ll see major improvements. There was a lot of paving done as part of the district’s 10-year facilities plan over the summer. Parking was expanded at East High School and the new entrance is also ready. At Eisenhower Middle School, there is a new bridge and parking loop with an extra entrance and exit area to help ease congestion.

"What we like to do is separate the bus drop-off and parent pick-up and drop-off so that we don't have any kids overlapping and potentially getting hit by a car or bus or an accident or things like that,” said Chief Operations Officer Todd Schmidt.

Libraries at Auburn, East, and Guilford won’t be done until after school starts. Schools are temporarily setting up library space in other areas until the libraries are expected to be completed by September 15th.
