CHERRY VALLEY (WIFR) -- It's the last chance for us to cool off at Magic Waters for the season. While it's a beautiful day out, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures forced the park to close more than usual. That hasn't stopped thousands of people from packing out the water park this year.
Magic Waters has closed for the season Monday and workers say they're already looking forward to next summer.
Director Zack McIntyre says this summer was much cooler than years before, but people still came to cool off. McIntyre says their highest attendance day -- more than 5,000 people beat the heat.
Despite the large crowds. McIntyre says they couldn't beat the thunderstorms and cool temperatures which forced the park to close for a total of 15 days this summer.
"Being an outdoor facility,
McIntyre says they're already working on changes for next season, however there's no word yet on what those might be. Workers hope to have Magic Waters open by Memorial Day next year for the 2015 season. We're told that will depend on the Rockford Park District's budget.
