LOVES PARK (WIFR) — It could soon cost more to shop in Loves Park.
The city says streets like Alpine Road need major repair. Now, aldermen are considering putting a referendum on next spring's ballot that asks voters to approve a one percent sales tax increase. The city projects the extra tax revenue could bring in over a million dollars for road repair each year.
"People take a real interest in the roads, and that's why I think that they're willing to make investments, and they've shown that in our neighboring communities," said
Dan Jacobson, Loves Park director of public works and community planning.
It's still early in the process. The city will now start working on a plan with specific projects to present to the public.
