LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- Here's a little more motivation to keep our New Year's resolution. The YMCA just received a major upgrade.
People at the Northeast Family YMCA off Riverside in Loves Park are getting fit in a new way. The fitness center invested $230,000 in 40 new pieces of cardio equipment. 30 of the machines feature Internet connectivity, iPad and iPhone docking stations and touch screens. It gives us a little more to do while we work out.
"We've heard a lot of thank yous," said Melissa Burns, wellness director. "People are enjoying the new equipment and the features on there. The old idea of you get bored of being on a treadmill or bike is no longer valid on this type of equipment."
The downtown branch also made some recent upgrades with new lighting, paint, renovated girls' locker room and a new youth interactive center.
