LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- Loves Park Police Chief James Puckett will be retiring February 2.

Puckett was hired as a patrol officer for Loves Park in 1978. He has also served as a detective, sergeant, deputy police chief and chief.

Puckett has been offered a position as facility security director for the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department.

Mayor Darryl Lindberg says in a press release he plans on recommending the city council to approve hiring Rodney Scott from deputy police chief to police chief. He'll also recommend sergeant Charles Lynde to be promoted to deputy chief.
