ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The first female deputy chief for the Rockford Police Department is hanging up her hand cuffs after more than 20 years of service.
Deputy Chief Lori Sweeney is retiring from the Rockford Police Department with today being her last day. She was the first female deputy chief of the field services bureau where she oversaw several units including patrols and traffic. Sweeney says it’s time for her to move on and start a new career.
Sweeney say she has not set plans for what’s next. She wants to spend time with her family and eventually move out of the state.
