LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- Dozens of local employees are not having a good start to the New Year.
Another Stateline business announced today that they're shutting down. The Sears Essentials store on Riverside in Loves Park will be closing in April.
The former K-Mart was converted into a Sears Essentials store back in 2005.
Corporate officials tell us the company's closure is based on lease negotiations, saying terms were not met in the contract.
86 employees are asked to reapply for positions at other stores owned by Kmart. Again, they were notified this morning.
The official shut down will take place on April 3rd of this year; a liquidation sale starts January 14th.
