ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A local family that has experienced a lot of pain and suffering wants to help others.

Chris Paul of Roscoe was hurt during the Summer of 2010 when he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.

For 18-months he was at Rockford Memorial Hospital, where doctors performed 11 surgeries to save his broken leg that had a deep bone infection.

Today, Paul and his Wife Therese volunteer at Rockford Memorial Hospital to share their story and help patients deal with being in the hospital.

"It just a blessing to be ah... to be volunteering at a hospital, to try and to pay it foreword or give it back if you will to the great doctors and the staff of nurses that saved me and my life," Paul said.

Paul and his wife are also looking into starting a support group for accident victims. If you would like to help just send them an e-mail at; tmpaul55@yahoo.com.

I met Therese in October of this year. My bother and I were sitting in the ICU waiting room at RMH and she came up to us and talked with us for a while. She was very comforting to talk to and told us that miracles do happen. Unfortunately we lost our mother on October 31st but we have comfort knowing she is no longer suffering. Thank you Therese for your kind words and sharing your story with us that day! It was a pleasure to have met you!
