STATELINE (WIFR) – Classes have yet to start for some schools in the Rockford area and schools are already running into problems with budget issues.
Superintendents in the Rockford area were joined by local families and service providers. They’re part of a group called the responsible budget coalition.
They say the state hasn’t funded providers of childcare, afterschool programs, and mental health services since July 1st.
The group says cuts to those services could be harmful to area families.
Those at the meeting want to urge state officials to choose funds that stop cuts to services that children and families rely on after school.
