ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A life-long Rockford resident reaches triple digits.
Philip Samuelson Celebrated his 100th birthday with his friends and family at Lifehouse this afternoon. He was born in 1912 to immigrants and worked as a machinist from a young age. Staff members say he’s still quite the gentleman, always willing to give up his seat for another. His son tells us Philip has always been busy and he sees that as the key to his longevity.
“He was active for a long, long time, I said earlier, he didn’t really retire from working ‘til he was 80 years old, and even somehow after that he always seemed to be busy, and I think that helped a great deal,” said Philip’s son, Larry Samuelson.
Happy Birthday to Mr. Samuelson!
