STATELINE (WIFR) -- One out of every seven people in the Stateline goes hungry every single night and one local food bank is packing boxes to make sure everyone has food on their plates.
September is hunger action month for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Today, they held their 12-hour "Pack-A-Thon" with a goal of shipping out 50,000 pounds of food.
Volunteers from across the area stopped by for 3-hour shifts, packaging things like diced tomatoes and green beans.
Communications Director Donna Lake says it's all worth it knowing that struggling parents can feed their children.
