Several local businesses are working together to raise money for those affected by the sandy hook shooting.
On January 14th, which is next Monday, District Bar and Grill is hosting a benefit. Tickets are $20 and include food and music.
Organizers say they want to help those hurting.
"Sandy Hook, even though it was 900 miles away, it was a huge event that affected the entire country, and we want to support something like that," said organizer Osyrys Edmister.
Newtowne has received so many donations, the city has set up a task force to handle incoming loads. Groups have been setting up and organizing a warehouse to hold the toys, school supplies and other gifts donated in the wake of the massacre. Despite the town's pleas to stop sending gifts, hundreds of volunteers are sorting the deliveries.
