Local Businesses Cited for Selling Alcohol to Minors

STATELINE (WIFR) -- In August 2014, the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state, including Belvidere and Winnebago County. 33 licensees in the Stateline were checked and 8 were cited for violations of liquor control laws.

On August 15, the ILCC and the Secretary of State Police District #1 conducted underage alcohol checks in Belvidere in Boone County. Of the 12 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill, 2126 Gateway Center Drive, Belvidere
De Juan Restaurant, 1101 N. State Street, Belvidere
Pacemaker Fine Foods, 413 Southtowne Drive, Belvidere
Supermercado Guanajuatito, 190 High Line Street, Belvidere

On August 22, alcohol compliance checks were conducted in Winnebago County. Of the 21 licensees checked, four sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Alvarez Mexican Restaurant, 1600 S. Bell School Road, Cherry Valley
Cappy’s Bar & Grill, 809 Cannel Puri Court, Unit #5, Winnebago
The Railway, 404 Main Street, Pecatonica
TGI Fridays, 2408 S. Perryville Road, Rockford
