CHERRY VALLEY (WIFR) -- And even though we may be more than eager for summer to start, we need to be careful before jumping into the pool.
Lifeguards go through dozens of hours of training before hitting the water park. Today at Magic Waters, employees and local authorities were on hand to talk about safety when swimming in a pool or river. The director of Magic Waters tells 23 News safety is number one at the water park.
"Our lifeguards go through so much training every year before they start," says Zack McIntyre, Magic Waters director. "It's estimated that they put in over 50 hours of training here on site and through their initial lifeguard classes."
Magic Waters earned an international award for water safety last year.
