FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Too much snow causes a local businesses' roof to collapse.
The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Freeport's Lincoln Mall will be closed until repairs are made.
Freeport Fire Chief Scott Miller says nearly five feet of snow was on the 10x30 foot section of roof that fell in an unoccupied part of the mall.
Miller says firefighters were called to the mall around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday for a broken gas pipe on the roof and that's when they noticed the top of the structure was sinking.
Contractors will be on the scene Tuesday morning to start repairs.
Miller says the mall was evacuated for about 30 minutes today, no one was hurt.
