ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Leaders of Lifescape Community Services in Rockford say some Stateline senior citizens will be hurting now that Schnucks has decided to close down two in-store restaurants in Rockford area stores.

Mike Hughes in the chief operating officer at the organization in Rockford and says both the restaurants in the Loves Park and Rockford East State Street Schnucks acted at congregate dining locations where the group prepared up to 25-hundred meals per month for area senior citizens.

Hughes says now that the restaurants have closed some senior citizens will miss out on the healthy meals provided and also miss out on two places where they would socialize.

"We just want to make sure we're taking care of the senior citizens in this community," said Hughes.

Schunks says the seating in those areas of both stores is still open to the public but the restaurants are closed and there are no plans for them at this time.
