ROCKFORD, IL – Through its participation in the annual Subaru “Share the Love” event, Lifescape Community Services has been awarded $2,000 by the Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA).
In cooperation with Napleton’s Subaru of Rockford, Lifescape was able to collect enough non-perishable food items to produce healthy nutritious meals for 50 seniors. According to the Meals on Wheels Foundation, one in four homes in America contains a senior. Of those homes, one in ten lives alone and face the possibility of food insecurity. Thanks to the generosity of those who donated food and cash to our “Share the Love” event, Lifescape was able to provide the necessary nutrition to those in our community who otherwise might not receive it.
This $2,000 MOWAA grant award will help us to continue our mission to provide nutritious meals to seniors. Funds will be used to provide Meals on Wheels for older adults who are home bound and isolated. Lifescape Meals on Wheels is an important part of providing nutritious meals that assist our elderly to improve and maintain their health and insure they remain independent.
Not only did the “Share the Love” event help Lifescape provide food for seniors, but it also provided a volunteer outlet for many Napleton employees. A team of dealership associates has volunteered to deliver meals for Lifescape which allows them to see firsthand the importance of a healthy meal through the gratitude of our clients.
