Lemonade Stands Raising Money for Non-Profit

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Lemonade stands will be set up around the Rockford area this weekend and it’s all in the name of a good cause.

It started as an idea by a 13-year-old Rockford girl who wanted a way to honor her sister with Down Syndrome.

The money she raised by holding a lemonade stand helped to open the non-profit Gigi’s Playhouse in Rockford. Four years later, it’s now expanded into a 2-day fundraiser with 17 locations.

“The money is used to help support programming at Gigi’s Playhouse for all ages. We have adult program, teens to kids’ club, to our younger toddler ages,” said Board Member Julie Gustafson.
The lemonade stands will be open through tomorrow. See a full list of their times and locations below:
