Leaf River Man Aquitted in 2011 Stabbing

LEAF RIVER (WIFR) – A Leaf River man has been acquitted in the case of a stabbing three years ago by reason of insanity.

29-year-old Michael Mitchell has been found not guilty on all counts, including attempted murder.

Mitchell was accused of breaking into a Leaf River home back in July of 2011 and stabbing the couple repeatedly.

The couple has since recovered. The judge’s decision means Mitchell was not responsible for his actions due to his mental illness.
