ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- What's more than three hundred miles long and is the highlight of the forest city?

The Rock River and on Wednesday a group of kayakers made a stop in downtown Rockford.

The Maranatha Baptist University Kayaking Trio were at the Prairie Street Brewhouse fueling up to continue their journey.

The guys are traveling more than 300 miles along the Rock River Trail from Wisconsin to the Mighty Mississippi River to raise money for their university to get a new costume for their mascot.

They are on day nine of their journey and hope to complete it by next Thursday. Jake Boucher, Kayaker, says its been nice to take in all of the sights.

"Its been great we've seen a lot of wildlife, we've met a lot of great people and everyone's helped us out that we've met and everyone slowed down for us that are in speed boats, jet-skies and waves. its just been a great trip so far haven't had any negative thing to say yet," Boucher said.
