ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A local business is making its move from Rockford City Market to a permanent location. Now we can enjoy treats from Kate’s Pie Shop at the Rockford Public Library’s east side branch.
Kate’s Pie Shop is moving into the cafe space inside the library. Co-owner Kate Sullivan says she has a lot of customers as she’s been a vendor at the City Market for three years. Sullivan isn’t just serving up pastries, she also sells vintage vinyl records. Sullivan says she wants to offer her customers something different from your typical library café.
“A lot of them are surprised when they first walk in to see that we are also a record store, but it’s been really happy positive feedback from everybody. They seem to be enjoying it. They love the humor that we offer with the pies and records and we just keep it light and like to have fun with our customers.
Kate’s Pie Shop will have its grand opening tomorrow from noon to 10 p.m. and once the library closes we’ll be able to enjoy live music.
