LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Recycle Centers at 13125 N. 2nd Street, Roscoe and 4665 Hydraulic Road, Rockford, will both be closed Saturday, March 1, 2014 for the safety of volunteers and recyclers, due to predicted wind chill at or below zero.

“We have always had a policy of closing the Recycle Centers when the wind chill drops below zero at 9 a.m. on a Saturday,” said Executive Director Lori Gummow. “Our volunteers are hearty, but we don’t want them to experience frostbite from being exposed to the elements for several hours,” she said.

Keep Northern Illinois beautiful offers free drop-off of cardboard, paper, plastic, glass and metal recyclable containers, bagged clothing, most electronics, scrap metal and non-Freon appliances every Saturday, weather permitting, at its two locations.
More information about how to recycle common items may be found on the Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful page on Facebook and the website www.knib.org. The Loves Park office number is 815-637-1343 and is open regular business hours, Monday-Friday.
