MORRISON, Ill. (AP) -- The second trial of Nicholas Sheley, a western Illinois man currently serving two life sentences for murder, is to get underway next month.
A final pretrial hearing was held in Whiteside County Circuit Court for Sheley. He is to stand trial for the June 2008 murders of 29-year-old Brock Branson, his fiancee, 20-year-old, Kilynna Blake, her 2-year-old son, Dayan; and 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve. Their bodies were found in Rock Falls two days after the shootings.
The jury coordinator for Rock Island County Circuit Court says four hundred summonses were sent to prospective jurors. Judge Jeffrey O'Connor says he expects to assemble prospective jurors on May 9 for a brief orientation and the start of jury selection.
Sheley is accused in the deaths of eight people in Illinois and Missouri.
