Jury Selection Starts in Latest Sheley Trial

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) -- No jurors were chosen during the first day of selection in the western Illinois trial of a man charged in four killings in 2008 that police say were part of a two-state killing spree.
Nicholas Sheley is charged with murder for the deaths of 29-year-old Brock Branson, his fiancee, 20-year-old, Kilynna Blake, her 2-year-old son, Dayan, along with 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve. Their bodies were found in their Rock Falls apartment.
Sheley, who is 34, has pleaded not guilty. The (Sterling) Daily Gazette reports three prospective jurors were asked to return Tuesday.
Sheley is already serving two life terms after being convicted of killing one man in Sterling and another in Galesburg. Sheley still faces charges in the deaths of an Arkansas couple found dead in Missouri.
