ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) -- Four men and four women have been chosen to serve as jurors in the trial of a man accused of killing eight people in 2008.

The Daily Gazette in Sterling reports those chosen Wednesday to sit in judgment of Nicholas Sheley include a welding supervisor at Rock Island Arsenal, a retired postal worker, a quality assurance worker, and a heavy equipment operator.

Eight more people, including four alternates, remain to be chosen.

The 34-year-old Sheley has pleaded innocent in the beating deaths of 29-year-old Brock Branson; 20-year-old Kilynna Blake; her 2-year-old son, Dayan; and 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve.

Sheley still faces trial in the deaths of an Arkansas couple found dead in Missouri.

Sheley is serving two life sentences for the murders of a Galesburg man and Sterling resident.
