JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- Water skiers from 14 teams and six states are gearing up for a three-day national show ski tournament in southern Wisconsin.
The Janesville Gazette reports this year's Indmar Marine Engines National Show Ski Championships will celebrate the tournament's 40th anniversary. It will be held on the Rock River at Traxler Park in Janesville, where show ski nationals got its start. The local water ski show club Rock Aqua Jays will host the event.
The president of the club says Traxler Park is the best show ski site in the country. He says the location is free of boat traffic and is protected from wind.
Tournament categories include swivel, team jump, doubles and freestyle jump.
The Rock Aqua Jays have won nationals 18 times, more than any other show ski team in the country.
