Janesville Felon Arrested for Allegedly Beating Elderly Mother

JANESVILLE (WIFR) -- A response to a call of domestic abuse ends with a Janesville man running from officers and crashing his car.

Police were called to a home in the 19-hundred block of Purvis Avenue where they discovered 31 year old Andrew Churchwell had allegedly beaten his elderly mother. As officers attempted to enter the home, Churchwell threatened them. Churchwell was able to escape through the back of the home.

Police say he jumped into a car and sped away but eventually crashed his car. Police found him pinned inside and unconscious. Churchwell was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Churchwell had previously been convicted of a felony and was also in possession of a firearm. He faces several other charges.. including domestic battery and abuse to an elderly person, reckless driving, and drug charges.
