ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- We're learning more about the new SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center. The outpatient facility offers a wide range of treatment, all under one roof. Construction began last summer for the new center, which is located at Riverside and Bell School Road. Cancer patients will be able to choose how they want to get chemotherapy, which could be in a private or shared room and could watch TV or listen to music. Swedes' CEO says he wants to make sure residents have a calm atmosphere to help them through a tough time.
"If you can bring all of the pieces together, the physicians, the nurses, the caregivers, the technology that you need all under one roof, i think there's a sense of assurance that you're in a place that's going to give you the best possible care," said Dr. Bill Gorski, CEO at SwedishAmerican Health Systems
The building is expected to be finished in the summer. It officially opens to patients October 15th.
