ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) – A new partnership is pairing dogs in need of a home and jail inmates looking to improve their lives.
Some dogs considered unadoptable at the Human Society of Southern Wisconsin will spend about eight weeks in a new program at the Rock County jail. Inmates in a rehabilitation program will help to care for, feed, and train dogs.
“I can't say I'm not going to get attached to him, but it's all a part of the job. It's a part of the responsibility that they have given to me. I think the whole point is to bond with him and in the end I hope he goes to a really good family," says Rock County inmate Ryan Lambert.
The Canine Corrections Academy program launches today. It’s the first program of its kind in the state.
