Janesville (WIFR) -- About 3:30 this morning, a Deputy from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office located a stolen SUV from Illinois in the area of East Racine Street and I-90 westbound in Janesville. Prior to the Deputy initiating a traffic stop, the driver accelerated to a high rate of speed onto I-90/39 westbound.
Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office pursued the SUV on I-90/39 westbound at speeds of up to 113 mph. Edgerton Police assisted by deploying stop sticks on I-90/39 at WI 59. The driver of the SUV struck the stop sticks, which deflated 3 tires. The SUV continued westbound on I-90 at a high rate of speed. Deputies, Edgerton Police, and Wisconsin State Troopers continued to pursue the SUV into Dane County where the driver exited I-90 westbound at mile marker 156.
The driver continued west on US 51. The SUV slowed to speeds of approximately 60 mph as it entered the City of Stoughton. The SUV struck a curb and came to a stop. The occupants fled on foot, but were apprehended minutes later.
The driver, Nicholas C. Svoboda, 19yrs of age, of Cary, IL was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Consent, Resisting, Knowingly Flee an Officer, and a Fugitive Complaint.
The passenger, Brittany T. Featherling, 20yrs of age, of Chicago, IL was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Consent, Resisting, and a Fugitive Complaint.
Svoboda and Featherling are in custody at the Rock County Jail pending an initial court appearance on 10/22/12 at 3:00 p.m.
