Illinois Computer System Posed High Risk Initially

CHICAGO (AP) -- Government security experts working on the rollout of President Barack Obama's health care law are worried that state computer systems -- including the one in Illinois -- could become a back door for hackers.

Documents provided to The Associated Press show that more than two-thirds of state were initially rated as "high risk" for security problems. The systems were supposed to tap into federal computers to verify sensitive personal information for coverage. Illinois was one of those states.

One document from late September shows Illinois had more than 80 security controls that either weren't documented or were incomplete.

The administration says the documents offer only a partial and "outdated" snapshot, and the security problems cited were either resolved or are being addressed. Officials say no successful cyber-attacks have taken place.
