A Stateline health group wants to offer more support for parents of children with autism.
Dozens of residents attended the Rockford Area Autism Conference hosted by Autism Home Support Services. The group educates parents and teachers throughout about local services for children with autism which includes speech and behavior therapy. Several speakers also shared exercise and health tips for children. One parent says it’s re-assuring to have help with a tough diagnosis.
"You know I think it’s nice to be able to have a day where you can kind of focus on that like today I would normally be focusing on my kids, and I’m able to just kind of focus and learn. you know there's always something new you can learn," said Margaret McGaw-Sullivan.
Autism Home Support Services provides counseling for families and children with autism throughout northern Illinois.
