I-90 Construction Near South Beloit to Begin March 18

STATELINE (WIFR) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced today that construction work on I-90 near South Beloit will begin on Monday, March 18, 2013.

Two construction companies, William Charles Construction Company and Plote Construction, are starting work on the second half of the $33.8 million project to expand the section of I-90 to six lanes from the Wisconsin State Line to the Illinois Tollway at Rockton Road.

During the 2012 construction season, the northbound lanes of I-90 were removed and replaced. This summer, the southbound pavement and bridges will be replaced.

Work will begin with lane closures on northbound I-90 for the first several weeks. In mid0aApril, all trafic will be switched to the east side of the interstate with two lanes being kept open in each direction to minimize congestion and traffic delays. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 18, 2013.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and drive carefully through all construction zones.
