STATELINE (WIFR) – Construction has certainly been a headache on I-90 and now tollway employees want to thank us for putting up with the mess.
Free coffee was given out at the Belvidere Oasis McDonald’s today. If you haven’t left the area in a while, I-90 from Rockford to O’Hare has been under construction for a year now. Starting today, traffic shifted for construction between Anthony Road and Route 23 near Marengo. All eastbound traffic is now driving on new pavement.
“If you just bear with us, in a couple years’ time, you’re going to have a fully rebuilt, widened, extra lane, wonderful driving surface to drive on I-90 and from Rockford and toward O’Hare Airport,” said Kristi Lafleur, Executive Director for the Illinois Tollway.
Construction on I-90 within the Rockford area is expected to finish up by the end of next year.
