UPDATE: Rockford Man Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Cab Driver in Hutley

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Christopher Mackey of Rockford appeared in a Kane County court Friday morning facing several charges relating to an alleged car jacking at the Huntley Outlet Mall.

Mackey is accused of stabbing a cab driver with a pen around 9:30 Thursday morning before pushing the driver out of the vehicle. Huntley police used GPS to track Mackey to Rockford where police arrested him about 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A taxi driver in Huntley was stabbed this morning and his cab was then abandoned in downtown Rockford.

Authorities say the cab started in Hoffman Estates. The passenger said he wanted to stop at Huntley's outlet mall. That's where he stabbed the driver and then headed west. The cab's GPS was used to locate the cab parked in downtown Rockford at Locust and Main Street. The suspect remains on the loose. The cab driver's condition is unknown.
