ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Middle school student from all over the Midwest showed off their science know-how Saturday in a special kind of Olympic games.
Rockford Christian Schools hosted its third annual Regional Science Olympiad Invitational. Twenty-six teams from Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin competed in a variety of academic contests.
As a part of the event, students took written exams. They also showed off their robots, instruments, and wind up cars which they created for different tests.
"I just really like the idea of growing up and doing something new that would help the nation and that's just my ultimate goal is to help the world with something that I did that has to do with science," 7th Grade Student Kelly Ranum, said.
