FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Many local artists trade in the art gallery for the great outdoors to show off their work.
The Freeport Art Museum and the Freeport Park District hosted the 6th annual Art in the Park on Sunday in Krape Park.
Around 40 artists took part in the show, which included a wide array of artwork including photography, ceramics and jewelry. Families could enjoy food and music while browsing the stalls, plus there were art activities for kids of any age. Vendors say they enjoy the family friendly atmosphere as well as the peaceful setting
“I'm really proud of my hometown of Freeport for being able to draw this kind of a crowd year to year. I think it’s awesome," says local artist Marlene Kleckler.
Organizers estimate around five thousand people stopped in to check out the one day art show.
