FREEPORT (WIFR) – Freeport’s Plaza Inn is no more. It’s now “Elizabeth Inn” and under new ownership. This comes nearly a year after the building was shut down by the city for a laundry list of reasons.

That’s all in the past says hotel manager Jeff Ledow the hotel’s ground level rooms have all been remodeled and cleaned up. There’s still work to be done to the upper level rooms and the pool area. Ledow says the last six months have been non-stop work since the new owner bought the place and they still have work to do.

“Oh, it’s a big difference. It was a long road, but we’re glad where we’re at and we’ve a long way to go yet.”

The city says although the hotel is cleared to run business again, they can only run the bottom floor. The upstairs section hasn’t been cleared by the city yet.

The new hotel owner says he’ll be looking to hire up to fifty full time employees and will begin hiring soon. If you're interested in applying, you can call 815-297-9700.
