UPDATE: Murder Suspect Pleads Guilty

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford murder suspect has pleaded guilty in the death of a 22-year-old woman last year.

21-year-old Joe Boose is accused of fatally shooting Katelynn Gourley in the driveway of a home in the 600 block of College Avenue back in May 2013. Boose was on probation at the time and turned himself in.

He has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for second-degree murder and six years in prison for unlawful use of a weapon.

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford police are searching for the suspect who they say shot and killed a local woman outside an early morning party. The victim's mother is speaking out , calling the homicide.. senseless.

Investigators say 22 year-old Katelynn Gourley was killed just after 3 Saturday morning outside a party near Seminary Street and College Avenue., which is near Kishwaukee street. This is not the same location as Rockford's newest housing complex which is near the crime scene. Detectives say Gourley was found dead outside the garage at around 3 a.m. Family members tell us she was a sweet and devoted mother of two young girls.

"Very overwhelming to lose your child to something so senseless, you took my child, i have two granddaughters, beautiful granddaughters that you will never know how much they will miss her, how much they will cry for her," Colleen Gourley.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Police are investigating a homicide on Rockford’s near west side.

The fatal shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of College Avenue and Seminary Street. Officers were called to the area for a Weapons Violation (Shots Fired) and found a victim shot and killed in the 600 block of College Ave.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.
