BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) -- Yellowstone County Attorney Scott Twito says he expects to file homicide charges Friday against one of two suspects in the kidnapping and murder of an Illinois man.
Twito said Thursday that suspect Simon Jacobson waived extradition proceedings after his arrest in Colorado on a probation violation and should be returned to Montana within the next 30 days.
Prosecutors allege Jacobson and a second man, James Walker, kidnapped Dejuan Laster of Rockford, Ill. from his Billings motel room last week intending to rob him.
Walker told investigators they later drove Laster to a dead end road where Jacobson shot the victim multiple times, including in the back of the head.
Walker appeared Thursday before Justice Court Judge Pedro Hernandez, who set bond at $500,000 on kidnapping and robbery charges.
