ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford police have received several complaints of home repair fraud on the city's east side.

Officers say the suspects typically target elderly victims with unsolicited offers to complete repairs of chimneys or roofs. The suspects often claim that they have done work for the victims in the past or are affiliated with legitimate contractors who have completed work for the victims. They usually demand money in advance or after completing superficial work on the victims' homes.

The suspects have been described as:
- Hispanic male in his late 40s to early 50s
- Hispanic male in his late 20s
- White or Hispanic female in her mid to late 30s

The suspects have been seen driving a dark-colored older model SUV, a dark-colored four-door car and a light-colored minivan.

People should be suspicious of any type of unsolicited repair offer and are discouraged from agreeing to anything.
