Higher Oil Prices May Mean Uptick in Gas Prices Soon

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Average gas prices in the Rockford area have fallen five cents this week. The average now amounts to $3.44 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy, that's 67 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and eight cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average has also seen a small decrease this week -- 0.5 cents per gallon to $3.49 per gallon.

The national average is 14 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and seven cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

"Oil closed last week at its highest level in over a year, and it may lead to a gentler rally in retail gas price than what we saw earlier this year, but a rally none the less," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst.
