DAVIS (WIFR) -- A man's plan to bring help to the less fortunate all started thanks to social media.

Scott McLain was scrolling through Facebook one day when he saw an inspiring video about giving back, and he figured it was his time to do the same.

So he contacted the local homeless shelter and asked for a list of items that they needed like toilet paper and razors.

He then posted the items on Facebook asking friends and family to donate, and over the past month he's collected about 100 items.

Tomorrow is the last day he will be collecting, and McLain will be dropping off the items Monday night.

"It means a lot to me because I am a 100% disabled vet, and people have helped me, and I love giving back."

On December 20th, McLain says he'll also taking 7 of the shelters regulars to get their hair cut, then out for a little shopping and they'll also grab a bite to eat.
