HP Recalling Notebook Computer Power Cords Due to Fire Risk

UNDATED (CBS NEWS) -- An important safety recall to tell you about.

Hewlett-Packard is recalling more than 6 million AC power cords in the U.S. and Canada because the cords can overheat, posing a fire risk.

The cords were sold with the HP and Compaq Notebook and Mini Notebook Computers, as well as, with AC adapter-powered accessories between September 2010 and June 2012.

Customers can call Hewlett-Packard toll-free at (877) 219-6676 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday for a free replacement, or request a replacement online at www.hp.com.
