SOUTH BELOIT (WIFR) -- A local woman's cancer awareness group is asking us to put our money toward their cause to help buy a pink fire truck.
The Pink Heals Winnebago County group just wrapped up a two-day rummage sale to raise money for the pink truck.
The national group travels across the country raising money for cancer research and awareness about early detection.
They're using fundraisers like the rummage sale to help pay for upkeep for the engine. This will be the first pink truck ever in Winnebago County; a very important symbol for many women in the area.
"This is close to my heart. I've lost a lot of people to cancer and it was quite a struggle in our family and as we're going about today at this rummage sale I'm seeing people that have survived cancer and they're coming in and sharing their stories with us and that's what this is about, helping others," Marcy Johnson, a member of the group, said.
