ROCFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford's airport could be fined after firefighters tell us workers openly burned debris and waste on the property sparking a grass fire.
It happened at around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on Beltline Road which is on the opposite side of the terminals. Firefighters say the flames got a little out of hand because the burn wasn't being watched.
The department is trying to figure out if the Chicago-Rockford International Airport has a permit to start a fire.
