ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Average gas prices around the Rockford region have now risen six cents per gallon this week, now measuring at $3.38 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy, this price is still 17 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 33 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average has fallen another cent per gallon this week to $3.37 per gallon. That's 17 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 40 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

"With the Fed shutdown continuing, we also will be seeing less data made available this week... meaning traders will be somewhat blinded when it comes to trading futures, which could add to volatility," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in a press release.
