ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- If you hate doing your taxes, and can't afford an accountant, here's a place you can get them done, for free. On Saturday, Goodwill will open its free tax sites for people making less than $25,000 a year, or families with incomes less than $50,000. All of the paper work is completed by volunteers who are certified by the IRS. Last year they helped 15,000 people save more then $300,000 in tax preparation fees.
The Rockford site is located at 615 N. Longwood Street and will be open on Saturdays from 9:00am – 2:00pm. The Machesney Park site is located at the Machesney Park Goodwill store, 8010 N. 2nd Street, Machesney Park, and will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00pm – 9:00pm, and Fridays from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Goodwill will also introduce a mobile site this year that will travel to several locations in the Rockford region and throughout Goodwill’s service area. Beginning January 14, please call (815) 987-6200 weekdays from 8:00am to 8:00pm to schedule an appointment at any of Goodwill’s locations. All information is listed on Goodwill’s web site, www.goodwillni.org.
